About 3DMD
Translational Imaging using Telemedical Modalities for 3D Printed Medical Devices
Congenital talipes equinovarus, commonly known as clubfoot, is a congenital orthopedic deformity characterized by inwards rotation of the ankle in one or both feet. To prevent lifelong disability, the condition must be treated to achieve a normal foot. The current gold standard of clubfoot correction is the Ponseti method, a combined serial corrective casting and surgical procedure. While the Ponseti approach is highly effective, the procedure requires skilled application of each cast, increasing cost and decreasing accessibility. We propose a novel 3D-printed corrective brace system that will provide clubfoot realignment with improved convenience and simplified application.
