2017-2018 Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowships in Digital Humanities

The College of Arts and Science invites applications for Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowships in Digital Humanities for the 2017-18 academic year.

The Center for Digital Humanities opened in Fall 2016 and serves as a focal point for digital humanities scholarship at Vanderbilt. Through a grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the College of Arts and Science will offer four one-year Mellon Faculty Fellowships for Vanderbilt faculty engaged in digital humanities research.

Mellon Postdoctoral Fellows will spend an academic year working on their own digital scholarship projects, as well as contributing to digital humanities at Vanderbilt through teaching, research assistance, digital curating, or related activities. Fellows will be active participants in the Mellon Digital Humanities Colloquium and Workshops in Digital Humanities, and will have full access to the Center’s Creative Media Lab.

Eligible candidates will have received degrees on or before May 2017 from a Vanderbilt University College of Arts and Science doctoral program. The fellowship provides an academic-year salary of $47,500 with benefits and $5,000 for research funding.

Applications should include:

  1. Application Form;
  2. Curriculum Vitae;
  3. A statement about the candidate’s interest in and preparation for digital humanities scholarship and a description of the proposed research project (3-5 pages);
  4. Two letters of recommendation, including one from principal Ph.D. advisor. Applicants will be provided with information to share with their referees regarding submitting letters of recommendation once the application has been completed.
