New Vanderbilt Certificate

Posted by on Thursday, February 6, 2014 in News.

On Thursday, November 14, at 5:30 AM, VUIT will deploy changes to the part of the Medical Center wireless environment. This will affect the following areas:

  • Bill Wilkerson
  • Critical Care Tower
  • Dayani Center
  • Doctor’s Office Tower
  • Frist & Godchaux
  • Green Hills Office Building
  • Green Hills Radiation Oncology
  • Medical Arts Building
  • Medical Center East
  • Medical Center North
  • MRB3
  • One Hundred Oaks
  • PHV
  • Stallworth Rehab Hospital
  • TVC
  • Vanderbilt Eye Institute
  • VCH
  • VUH
  • VUIIS

Some devices may need to reconnect to the wireless network after the change. This change will improve roaming across the Vanderbilt wireless network. In order to perform this change, VUIT will deploy a new Certificate. Certificates are digital keys placed on your device that allow the device to access the VUIT wireless network. Devices managed by VUIT should not experience any changes. The vummiv SSID is not affected by this change.

Personal devices (mobile phones, tablets, personal computers, etc…) will may need to be configured to accept the new Certificate. A guide for configuring most common devices can be found here (**https://ncs.mc.vanderbilt.edu/NCSBlackCMS/UI/CMS/CMS.aspx?PageID=86**) click on, “Wi-Fi Connect Now” > click on, “Help Me Change My Certificate Authority to vuNET” > select your preferred device. The setup process will only need to be performed once per device.

If you require assistance with connecting your device, contact your technical support provider or the Help Desk (**http://helpdesk.mc.vanderbilt.edu/**) or 343-HELP (4357).

Email any questions or comments to ngnwireless@vanderbilt.edu.
