Though I discussed it in my first \u201cPLACES\u201d post, there is so much more to say. Not just about one little restaurant, though. About <i>all <\/i>of Nashville. It\u2019s a place far from my first home that now <i>is<\/i> my first home. <o:p><\/o:p><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-indent: .5in;\">So for this week\u2019s PLACES update, I\u2019d love to introduce you to one of my favorite parts of Nashville: Hillsboro Village. To me, Hillsboro is the patch in the quilt of Nashy that feels most like my California small town of Danville.&nbsp; <o:p><\/o:p><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-indent: .5in;\">Bricks and centuries-old homes give each of these places a quaint, old-town charm. Don\u2019t be fooled, though. Neither Hillsboro nor Danville is messing around. Cutesy doesn\u2019t quite cover it; they boast some of the best high-end retail shops, boutiques, and award winning restaurants in their respective regions. Danville and Hillsboro are the perfect combination of class, culture, community, and couture. <o:p><\/o:p><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-indent: .5in;\">&nbsp;I\u2019ve found very few streets I like as much as <a href=\"http:\/\/admissions.vanderbilt.edu\/vandybloggers\/manage\/Hillsboro.jpg\">21<sup>st<\/sup>Avenue<\/a> in Hillsboro and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.danvilletowncouncil.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/09\/1-downtown_danville.jpg\">Hartz Avenue<\/a> in Danville.&nbsp; (<i>These towns are twins, right?!) <\/i>And though I\u2019d love for everyone to get to experience both of these lovely towns, I know full well that travel is limited a devious evil called \u201cbudget\u201d. To solve this problem, how about a little this-is-like-that to help you imagine what being in either town would be like!&nbsp; <o:p><\/o:p><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\">We\u2019ll compare Hillsboro\u2019s finest to Danville\u2019s dandies with Twitter-like brevity<o:p><\/o:p><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\">\u2026and if there\u2019s not really a match, well, I\u2019ll have some other comparison for you. <o:p><\/o:p><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p><br \/><\/o:p><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><a href=\"http:\/\/img2.10bestmedia.com\/Images\/Photos\/108447\/bookman-bookwoman-used-books-6264759375-d1c40fbf84-b_28_550x370.jpg\">Bookman Bookwoman<\/a> is like <a href=\"http:\/\/sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net\/hphotos-ash3\/c0.0.403.403\/p403x403\/523027_10152159022480578_905789583_n.jpg\">Rakestraw<\/a>after a tornado of dust, a flood of coffee, and a plague of old-people smell.<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\">Sweet Cece\u2019s is like Yogurt Shack with cooler topping dispensers, but not as cool toppings. #ironic #youneedaspoon,notaknife,alanis<o:p><\/o:p><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\">Fire Finch is like Ella J.: stylish clothes, kind-of-a-splurge prices, and #cats?<o:p><\/o:p><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\">Sam\u2019s is kind of like That Bar: a decent scene with some good grub and the game on loud, but you\u2019re more than likely to run into your boss, your friend\u2019s mom, or a teacher. #yikes<o:p><\/o:p><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><a href=\"http:\/\/cmsimg.tennessean.com\/apps\/pbcsi.dll\/bilde?NewTbl=1&amp;Avis=DN&amp;Dato=20100830&amp;Kategori=NL&amp;Lopenr=8300812&amp;Ref=PH&amp;Item=19&amp;Maxw=567&amp;noborder\">McDougal\u2019s<\/a>is like\u2026a <a href=\"http:\/\/i.i.com.com\/cnwk.1d\/i\/tim\/\/2010\/08\/09\/hoarding-tlc-630.jpg\">hoarder\u2019s paradise<\/a>: if you look hard enough, you\u2019ll find some decent fried chicken hiding between old license plates and newspapers. #help<o:p><\/o:p><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\">The Belcourt is like The Vine. The portions are big, the servers are friendly, the lines are long, and the pancakes are great.<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><a href=\"http:\/\/nashville.metromix.com\/content_image\/thumbnail\/4x3\/223\/527704\">Provence<\/a>is like <a href=\"http:\/\/cdn2-b.examiner.com\/sites\/default\/styles\/large_lightbox\/hash\/c0\/c2\/c0c250a64b681ccc7e7bb9eb8b0a75cf.jpg\">La Boulange<\/a>: France meets America in the most joyful of ways \u2013 coffee and pastries. (But unlike Provence, La Bou requires real people money.) #vandycard<o:p><\/o:p><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><i>In review, <o:p><\/o:p><\/i><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\">Things Danville has that Hillsboro should get on board with:<o:p><\/o:p><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoListParagraphCxSpFirst\" style=\"margin-left: 21.0pt; mso-add-space: auto; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; text-indent: -.25in;\"><!--[if !supportLists]-->&#8211;<span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: 7pt;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><!--[endif]-->A store for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.growmap.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/cute-puppies-and-kittens.jpg\">puppies and kitties<\/a>! Like Molly\u2019s Pup-Purr-ee!<o:p><\/o:p><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle\" style=\"margin-left: 21.0pt; mso-add-space: auto; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; text-indent: -.25in;\"><!--[if !supportLists]-->&#8211;<span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: 7pt;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><!--[endif]-->A nice consignment shop. C\u2019mon. We\u2019re college kids, not millionaires. Posh, while it is nice to walk through your rows of way-too-expensive dresses and wish I had Taylor Swift\u2019s closet, at the end of the day, you\u2019re more of a window-shopping kind of place. Take a hint from Danville\u2019s Savvy Shopaholic. <o:p><\/o:p><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoListParagraphCxSpLast\" style=\"margin-left: 21.0pt; mso-add-space: auto; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; text-indent: -.25in;\"><!--[if !supportLists]-->&#8211;<span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: 7pt;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><!--[endif]-->Sideboard&#8217;s hot chocolate with graham crackers on the rim of the mug &#8211; yum!<o:p><\/o:p><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\">Things Hillsboro nailed that Danville\u2019s slackin\u2019 in:<o:p><\/o:p><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoListParagraphCxSpFirst\" style=\"margin-left: 21.0pt; mso-add-space: auto; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; text-indent: -.25in;\"><!--[if !supportLists]-->&#8211;<span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: 7pt;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><!--[endif]-->More than one coffee house! Sideboard is great, and I understand that Starbucks <i>(*cough*cough* Char-bucks*)<\/i> is nearby, but can we <i>please<\/i>get our act together and establish another hometown coffee shop that\u2019s bigger than Sideboard? Dear Danville, consult Hot &amp; Cold if you have any questions.<o:p><\/o:p><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoListParagraphCxSpLast\" style=\"margin-left: 21.0pt; mso-add-space: auto; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; text-indent: -.25in;\"><!--[if !supportLists]-->&#8211;<span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: 7pt;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><!--[endif]-->Jackson\u2019s cookie dough egg rolls<o:p><\/o:p><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\">But I guess even twins are different.
