Section I: Observations and Corrections
Section I of the Sight Reduction Form is used to calculate the Observed Altitude (ho), which is used in Section IV to calculate the Altitude Intercept.
- We’ll look at Choosing a Celestial Body in our first video, and for the scope of this course we will limit ourselves to celestial bodies that require minimal corrections.
- Our second video explains how to calculate the Apparent Altitude, detailing Index Correction, Dip Correction, and Sextant Altitude.
- For our third and final video in Section I, Observed Altitude focuses on adding or subtracting any additional corrections to our Apparent Altitude to complete our calculations for this section.
