Section IV: Determining a Line of Position
Section IV of the Sight Reduction Form is used to find the Computed Altitude, Altitude Intercept , Azimuth Angle, and Azimuth, in order to determine a Line of Position.
- We’ll look at Computed Altitude (abbreviated hc) in our first video.
- Our second video explains how to calculate the Altitude Intercept. This is the distance from our Assumed Position to the Line of Position on the Azimuth.
- Our final video for the course, Azimuth, will cover how to determine the direction to the geographic position of the celestial body. The Line of Position will be perpendicular to the Azimuth.
