Definition

Biodiversity refers to the wide range of life on earth, from trees to tigers to turtles. Conservationism refers to the protection of these living things through a conscious effort to reduce the amount of natural resources.

What Can I Do?

as a student…

  • Plant flowers that attract bees, bees are at risk
  • Plant native plants that won’t disrupt the natural environment
  • Ask your parents about the “adopt a polar bear program” or something similar
  • Avoid using plastic water bottles, use refillable ones
  • Avoid using straws, especially plastic ones

as an adult…

  • Purchase locally sourced foods
  • Buy fish from companies that practice sustainable fishing
  • Support and donate to wildlife funds
  • Visit animal sanctuaries over a zoo whenever possible
