{"id":3,"date":"2022-09-07T20:30:52","date_gmt":"2022-09-07T20:30:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/my.vanderbilt.edu\/bryancward\/homepage\/"},"modified":"2025-10-31T18:58:24","modified_gmt":"2025-10-31T18:58:24","slug":"homepage","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/my.vanderbilt.edu\/bryancward\/","title":{"rendered":"Bio"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Bio<\/h2>\n<p>I am an Assistant Professor of Computer Science (primary) and Electrical and Computer Engineering at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanderbilt.edu\/\">Vanderbilt University<\/a>. My research focuses on the design, implementation, and security of real-time and embedded systems, such as autonomous vehicles, industrial control systems, and satellites. I am generally interested in systems security, real-time and cyber-physical systems, distributed and concurrent systems, and operating systems.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to joining Vanderbilt, I was a member of the Technical Staff at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ll.mit.edu\/\">MIT Lincoln Laboratory<\/a> in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ll.mit.edu\/r-d\/cyber-security-and-information-sciences\/secure-resilient-systems-and-technology\">Secure Resilient Systems and Technology Group<\/a>. I earned my Ph.D. in 2016 in <a href=\"https:\/\/cs.unc.edu\/\">Computer Science<\/a> at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unc.edu\/\">UNC Chapel Hill<\/a>, where I worked with <a href=\"https:\/\/jamesanderson.web.unc.edu\/\">Jim Anderson<\/a>. I earned a B.S. in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bucknell.edu\/academics\/college-engineering\/majors-departments\/computer-science\">Computer Science and Engineering<\/a> and a B.A. in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bucknell.edu\/academics\/college-arts-sciences\/academic-departments-programs\/mathematics\">Mathematics<\/a> from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bucknell.edu\/\">Bucknell University<\/a> in 2011.
