Student Spotlights

Here are some examples of the wonderful scholars that come through the Program:

Lily Chuck (she/her/hers)

Senior Lily Chuck studies Spanish, Law History & Society, and Latino/a Studies and is set to graduate in spring 2022. Lily is from San Jose, California. Her undergraduate research has focused on Latinx women in the United States vis-à-vis the history of their property rights in the California Constitution and their maltreatment in contemporary obstetrics. In her final semester, she interns with Tennessee Justice for Our Neighbors, an immigration legal services clinic in Nashville, where she learns more about immigration law before beginning law school in fall 2022. She thanks the College Scholars program for shaping her four years at Vanderbilt and for inspiring her passion for Latinx racial justice. Looking back, it is hard for her to pinpoint just one thing she will miss about Vandy, but the enriching honors seminars, the brilliant professors, and the late nights studying in the Buttrick Hall atrium all come to mind.
