Miranda Shum is from Palo Alto, California, and is an undergraduate student at Vanderbilt University. She is pursuing a degree in piano performance while following the pre-med track. Miranda joined the Cover lab in 2018 and is currently undertaking a comparative genomics project, researching the evolutionary history of H. pylori and its closest relatives: H. acinonychis and H. cetorum. In addition, Miranda is doing a proteomics project to analyze how H. pylori grows in different environmental conditions. In her spare time, Miranda enjoys swimming, cooking, and photography.
