Dr. Neha Sawhney is a Staff Scientist in the Division of Infectious Diseases, Department of Medicine, Vanderbilt University Medical Center. The goal of her research in the Cover Lab is to elucidate the molecular mechanisms by which Helicobacter pylori infection can lead to gastric cancer in humans. She is originally from India. She earned a PhD degree in Microbiology and Cell Science from University of Florida. In 2018, she joined Timothy Cover’s Lab at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where she is investigating the Cag type IV secretion system in Helicobacter pylori. Her research interests include bacterial physiology, metabolism and pathogenesis.
