Bruce\u00a0Damon is a Professor of Radiology and Radiological Sciences<\/a>, Biomedical Engineering<\/a>, and Molecular Physiology and Biophysics<\/a> at Vanderbilt University and is a core faculty member of the Vanderbilt University Institute of Imaging Science<\/a>. He uses\u00a0in vivo<\/em> imaging and spectroscopy to assess\u00a0healthy and pathological human physiology, with focus on skeletal muscle and brown adipose tissues. He is the author or co-author of\u00a0at least\u00a060 published scientific works<\/a> and is the Principal Investigator of two NIH R01 awards.\u00a0 His contributions to science have been recognized with the Distinguished Investigator Award from the Academy of Radiology Research and Biomedical Research Imaging<\/a>\u00a0(2014) and with fellowship in the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering<\/a> (2014) and the American Association for the Advancement of Science<\/a> (2017). Highly involved\u00a0Vanderbilt’s educational enterprise, he\u00a0teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in the Schools of Medicine and Engineering, directs\u00a0the Chemical and Physical Biology PhD Program<\/a>, and serves on numerous campus committees associated with undergraduate and graduate education. He has also been the principal mentor to more than 40 academic trainees at levels ranging from high school to junior faculty. He\u00a0is an Associate Editor of Frontiers in Physiology<\/em> and has served on\u00a0more than 40 grant review panels or other government advisory panels in the United States and abroad.<\/p>\n
