Minors in Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering

Beginning Fall 2019, the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science will introduce two new minors for Vanderbilt University undergraduates.

Minor in Electrical Engineering

The minor in electrical engineering is available to all students except those majoring or minoring in computer engineering. The electrical engineering minor requires a minimum of 16 hours of EECS courses, including the completion of all laboratory corequisites for courses selected for the minor, distributed as follows:

Programming: CS 1101 or CS 11043 hours
Digital Systems: EECE 2123/2123L**4 hours
Circuits: EECE 21123 hours
One of EECE 2213/2213L, 3214, 3233, or 3235/3235L3-4 hours
At least 3 hours of EECE courses numbered 2000 or above,
excluding EECE 3860/3861
3 hours
Total16-17 hours

Minor in Computer Engineering

The minor in computer engineering is available to all students except those majoring or minoring in electrical engineering or computer science. The computer engineering minor requires a minimum of 17 hours of EECS courses, including the completion of all laboratory corequisites for courses selected for the minor, distributed as follows:

Programming: CS 1101 or CS 11043 hours
Digital Systems: EECE 2123/2123L**4 hours
Microcontrollers: EECE 2218/2218L4 hours
One of EECE 2112, CS 2201, or CS 22043 hours
At least 3 hours of EECE or CS courses numbered 2000 or above,
excluding EECE 3860/3861 or CS 3860/3861
