About the Instructors

Daniela

Daniela D’Eugenio is a Senior Lecturer in Italian in the Department of French and Italian. Her main research focuses on the study of proverbs in Renaissance and Baroque literature, the relation between texts and images, and Italian language pedagogy. She is interested in the visual and performative aspects of fashion and its representation in different genres, from literary texts to emblems and to cinema. Alexandra-Sargent

Alexandra Sargent Capps is a Principal Senior Lecturer in the Department of Theatre. She designs the seasonal production costumes, manages the costume shop, and teaches classes in costume design, fashion history, and fashion sustainability. Alex recently opened a Fiber Arts Center at Vanderbilt’s Wond’ry, center for innovation and entrepreneurship, with goals including: designing for special needs; working with engineers to assist in creating wearable technologies for research and innovation; using hands-on endeavors to mitigate depression and anxiety; and running dynamic programming connected to fashion sustainability. Alex’s ultimate goal is to explore and celebrate how the process and product of design, through all mediums, most especially textile art, enhances the quality of our lives and relates to important issues in our contemporary world. For more information, see her page at https://as.vanderbilt.edu/theatre/people/sargent.php
