Progress Report #2

This week we have arranged to meet again with one of the patients at One Hundred Oaks. The first meeting with this patient was conducted before our scope was finalized and without much guidance, so now that we know what we’re looking for, we are able to collect the necessary information so that it can be used for our final product. As we have been behind on assignments due to lack of a clear project goal, we have spent some time catching up on assignments such as the grant proposal and these progress reports. We will be spending time this week working on our oral presentation slides and brainstorming possible car modifications using the data we currently have. We aim to begin working more as a cohesive group with regular meetings and visitations to the BME Design Loft on a biweekly basis.

Since the scope of our project has changed, we are now unsure of who our advisor is and if we even have a sponsor company. We are supposed to go to Toys R Us to test out power cars so that we may suggest one to each of the parents we’ve met with, but we came across the issue that these children are so small now, but they grow quite quickly. So any car we recommend right now may not be appropriate by the time the cars are being made in January. So for that we’re on a bit of a hold right now. We hope to meet with Dr. Walker and Professor Lowery in the coming week to clear up some more of our questions that have risen since our last meeting, as well as determine a suitable working space for our project.
