Weekly Meeting 4 (12/04/18)

Posted by on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 in Notebook.

Completed:
  1. Disassembled prosthesis- we were unable to get the hand to move at all. We hear a faint beep coming from the motor but no actuation. Shaan will be troubleshooting this to determine if the motor is the problem over winter break, so any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated!
  2. Meeting with Vanderbilt mechatronics/control systems professor over myoelectric prostheses- we discussed possible design routes with the professor to understand the feasibility. He recommended that we look into more optimal alternatives to Arduinos with better bandwidths. He also wanted to ensure that we consider implementing a PID feedback controller prior to the algorithm.
  3. Divided into focus areas- Rebecca and Kaitlyn will handle EMG collection and artifact extraction, Christian will handle algorithms and coding, Shaan will handle Arduino to actuation interfacing, and Allyson will handle EMG to Arduino interfacing.
Looking Forward:
  1. Finalize purchase orders- looking into Arduino alternatives (potentially a beagleboard with teensy addendum and Myoware sensors
  2. Troubleshoot motor issues
  3. Prototype (CAD/cardboard)- We will have this completed before winter break
  4. Continued literature review and brainstorming over winter break
