About Me

Welcome and Bienvenidos!

I have a passion for global community health and health education equity, particularly within preventable chronic diseases. This is based on my experiences living and working with underserved populations in both Latin America and in the United States. To make a difference in the quality of community health and health education equity, I see myself researching and advocating for underserved populations, engaging in community-driven initiatives, and evaluating programs that will educate and inspire communities to consider their health as a top priority.

Myers Mission

My Master of Public Health degree concentrating in Global Health has and will continue to prepare me for the next steps in my career. While working towards my MPH degree, I also obtained a Graduate Certificate in Latin American Studies, which broadened my scope of knowledge and experience regionally and inter-professionally. I have also focused my coursework around program evaluation to enhance my public health skillsets.

The cover photo of this site was taken of me on the peak of Volcan Tajumulco during my field experience in Guatemala in July of 2019. In the distance are the rest of Guatemala’s volcanos including Fuego, which you can see erupting. From where I was standing I could see Mexico, Belize, Honduras, and El Salvador. Seeing this photo reminds me of how incredibly large the world is and how small we are as individuals living in it. It also reminds me how important collaborations and partnerships are for making a sustainable impact in our large world.
