Getting Ready for Fall 2024 Registration

Posted by on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 in News.

As you may know, course options for Fall 2024 are now available for viewing in YES. Your account has an ADVISING HOLD listed, which will prevent you from registering. Your advising hold is released by us, your ADVISING LEADS, not your academic advisor.

Your hold will be released once you complete your HOD Learning Plan, which helps you think through your progress and map out a plan for course registration.‌

You will receive a unique link to your HOD Learning Plan no later than Saturday, March 9. You should be sure to complete your plan by April 1, to be sure that your hold will be released.

If HOD is your second major, and your advising hold is released by another department/advisor/school, you are still required to complete your learning plan. You must complete this plan to keep your hold lifted.

Professor Blaha and I are available to answer any technical questions regarding course registration that your advisor may not know. As a reminder, you can meet with your advisor throughout your time at Vanderbilt, as they are able. Here are some ideas if you have questions as you complete your learning plan:

  • First, be sure to check (and bookmark) this super helpful document. Many of the answers to your questions can be found here. We are constantly updating it.
  • If you can’t find the answer in the document above, you can email us. A reminder: we’re regular people with a lot on our plates, just like you. Be patient with us as we respond!
  • On Wednesday, March 20 and Wednesday, March 27 at 6PM, we will host a 45-minute zoom session, Completing Your HOD Learning Plan: Fall Course Registration Guidance which is open to all HOD students.
  • Beginning the week of April 1, you can attend Zoom office hours with advising questions. Office hours will be Monday-Thursday from 6-8PM CT

The following links/information will be helpful to you as you plan for spring courses:

We hope this information is helpful to you.

Like you, we’ll be taking some time off over spring break to recharge, but we look forward to working with you to ensure that registration is smooth sailing for everyone.
