Monica Hellesøy, Ph.D.

Dr. Monica Hellesøy, Ph.D. joined the Irish lab as a Visiting Research Fellow in May 2017 for 4 months on a computational biology focused project.

Monica is a Postdoctoral Scholar in the lab of Jonathan’s longtime collaborator, Bjørn Tore Gjertsen, at University of Bergen, Norway.  Monica did her Ph.D. thesis training work with Jim Lorens at University of Bergen, Norway, and spent time at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in the lab of Mark LaBarge, who is now at City of Hope in Los Angeles, USA.  (Jim Lorens, Mark LaBarge, and Jonathan Irish are all alumni of Garry Nolan‘s lab at Stanford University, USA.)

Monica’s project applied machine learning computational approaches to study acute myeloid leukemia patient responses to targeted therapies.
