Discovery of human cell selective effector molecules using single cell multiplexed activity metabolomics. <strong>Nature Communications <\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1038\/s41467-017-02470-8\">DOI<\/a>. *equal contribution. **co-corresponding authors.<\/p>\n<p>\u25ba This peer-reviewed research developed out of a collaborative Vanderbilt University Discovery pilot grant that brought together the Irish lab\u2019s expertise in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and single cell tools and the Bachmann lab\u2019s expertise in identifying novel metabolite effectors.\u00a0 This work created a novel single cell metabolomics platform that uses primary human tissue biopsies and applied it in AML to identify and characterize a novel natural product that selectively targets leukemia cells and spares non-malignant monocytes and lymphocytes from the bone marrow microenvironment.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1308\" style=\"width: 1188px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1308\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1308\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.vanderbilt.edu\/t2-my\/my-prd\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/424\/2018\/01\/2018-Earl-and-Ferrell-et-al-Fig-1.jpg\" alt=\"2018 Earl and Ferrell et al.
