I’m currently an assistant professor (non-tenure track) in the Department of Mathematics at Vanderbilt University.  JorgeRomanCV

My current research interests are in the areas of Markov chain Monte Carlo and Bayesian statistics.  My recent work has been on the convergence analysis of Gibbs samplers for Bayesian general linear mixed models.

I was born in the small island of Puerto Rico.  In 2003, I was admitted to Universidad de Puerto Rico – Recinto de Río Piedras. Four years later, I earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and joined the Department of Statistics at the University of Florida. I then received my master’s degree in 2009 and my doctoral degree in 2012 (both in statistics).
