Joshua Bleiberg is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Leadership, Policy, & Organization at Vanderbilt University’s Peabody College. His research focuses on using quasi-experimental methods to examine state and federal education policies. His dissertation focuses on estimating the causal effects of national standards-based reforms (e.g., NCLB, Common Core, ESEA Waivers) on at-risk students using the National Assessment of Education Progress.

Prior to beginning at Peabody, Josh worked as a Research Analyst in Governance Studies at the Brookings Institution in Washington, DC. In that role, he supported research in the Center for Technology Innovation including work on education technology and was the Managing Editor of the Tech Tank blog. Before his work at Brookings, he worked as a campaign fundraiser for several candidates including former Representative Rush Holt. Josh has also worked as a Case Manager in the Philadelphia Welfare System.

He has a Master’s Degree in Education Policy and Management from Harvard University in Cambridge, MA and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY. Josh also holds a Childhood education teacher certification in New York.
