What We Do
Web Communications provides centralized support to the Vanderbilt community for two content management systems, OmniUpdate and WordPress (which is what’s running this here blog) and I serve as the director of Web Communications, as well as senior web developer. I love coding and problem solving – and work heavily on the backends that support our WordPress theme and OmniUpdate template sets, as well as build out database applications that are used throughout the Vanderbilt web presence to handle all sorts of nifty data. We support approximately 2,000 websites and 100 web-based applications across the University, ranging in size from very small 1-5 page sites to the very large 1500 page site.
Web Communications also manages Vanderbilt’s social media presences, at the helm of this endeavor is the awesome Beth Fox. A few of the primary social media sites we manage are: Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Google+, Flickr, Instagram, Pinterest, Foursquare, etc. We don’t do this alone – we have a great team that keeps it all going (not pictured: fearless leader/Executive Director of Integrated Communications Melanie Moran).
Our office is also responsible for the design, maintenance and content for the main Vanderbilt website.
