Progress Update 11/6/18
Last week we determined that our next steps should align with analyzing the data gathered by the Galloway team and then researching different accelerometers to find one that best suits our needs. Our goal was to find another accelerometer to test on one of our team members and compare that data to the data gathered by the Galloway team.
We are preparing to test an accelerometer on ourselves and gather data. This included researching different accelerometers and selecting a triple-axis Adafruit accelerometer (MMA8451) to use in trials that will occur later this week. We soldered the accelerometer to the pins and attached it to a headband for testing. In terms of project planning, we have finalized our Gantt chart, which we’ll be using to schedule our activities moving forward. We still have not heard from Dr. Walker in regard to when our oral presentations will be, so the chart is subject to change.
We are waiting to hear back from Dr. Walker in regards to determining which category our project falls into in order to complete our intellectual property agreement. We also are still waiting to hear back from the Galloway team with the initial data that they’ve gathered from the patient.
We are going to send more follow-up emails to the other team and do a better job of communicating our deadlines. One way that we plan to do this is by sharing our Gantt chart with the Galloway group so that they can see the timeline of the project.
For the next week, we hope to get in contact with the Galloway team so that we can analyze and compare the data they gathered to the data collected by our accelerometer. In soldering our accelerometer to the arduino we noticed that the breadboard we had was a little bulky so another goal for next week will be to find and order a smaller one that would reduce the bulk and weight of the device.
