Program Overview
Pathways for African American Success (PAAS) is a family-based program designed to build on the strengths of African American parents and their communities that have been shown to protect their children from HARM, by encouraging their children to avoid situations that can compromise their potential to be successful.
PAAS is designed to:
- Enhance family connection and communication
- Enhance effective child management skills
- Increase parental involvement and support for children
- Promote family’s racial pride
- Promote self control and self esteem
- Strengthen families
RESULTS:
- Promote academic success
- Prevent aggressive behaviors
- Prevent early drinking, smoking, and other drug use
- Prevent early behaviors that place youth at risk for HIV and early pregnancy at risk for contracting diseases, such as HIV and early parenthood
