NCPI Researchers Present at APPAM Conference

Several NCPI researchers and affiliates presented papers at the 32nd annual Association for Public Policy Analysis and Management (APPAM) Conference, held November 4-6 in Boston, Massachusetts. Among the presenters were Dale Ballou, Corey Koedel, J.R. Lockwood, Daniel McCaffrey, and Matthew Springer. NCPI graduate assistants Ryan Balch and Jeffrey Springer also presented.

Among the presentations was a special panel focusing on research on teacher incentive pay. The panel included findings from NCPI’s POINT experiment in Nashville and experimental evidence from the center’s Project on Incentives in Teaching in Round Rock (TX) which looks at team-level teacher performance pay. The panel also featured work by Mathematica Policy Research, Inc. including the study of the Teacher Advancement Program in Chicago Public Schools and the national Talent Transfer Initiative. In addition to this panel, NCPI graduate assistant Ryan Balch presented his research on Austin Independent School District’s REACH program during a poster session on Saturday.
