The National Center on Performance Incentives wins three-year contract to evaluate performance incentive program in Texas

The National Center on Performance Incentives (NCPI) entered into a three-year contract with the Texas Education Agency (TEA) to evaluate the state’s Governor Educators Excellence Award Program. In 2005, Governor Rick Perry funded the Governor’s Educator Excellence Award Program that has provided 100 schools with the opportunity to create performance incentive programs. In 2006, TEA selected NCPI to evaluate the governor’s program. Over the next three years, the center will examine the program’s impact on student achievement, teacher behavior, and teacher quality. Matthew Springer is the principal investigator for this evaluation, and James Guthrie and Michael Podgursky are co-principal investigators.
