Interaction Geography and the Interaction Geography Slicer

Interaction geography is a new approach to mapping and visualizing embodied interaction over space and time (Shapiro, Hall & Owens, 2017; Shapiro & Garner, 2021). It consists of Mondrian Transcription, a process supported by software to transcribe movement from video and the Interaction Geography Slicer (IGS), a dynamic visualization tool that allows for exploratory analysis of movement, conversation and video over space and time. In our work, we use interaction geography, and specifically the IGS, to augment the VFF process and provide new ways for teachers to critically reflect on their movement and use of space across classroom lessons. For interactive visualizations and demonstrations please see: https://www.interactiongeography.org.
