Tong wins Troland award

The National Academy of Science has just announced that Frank Tong is one of the winners of this year’s Troland Research Award. Two Trolands are given per year to scientists under the age of 40 for ground-breaking contributions to psychology and/or neuroscience with a focus on relations between consciousness and the physical world. Frank’s work on neural decoding was particularly recognized although, clearly, his whole body of work is quite remarkable. Needless to say, this is a highly prestigious — and well-deserved — award. This is also a credit to our Department and the University as a whole. We now have three Troland winners on board (Jeff Schall, Isabel Gauthier, and Frank) — and likely more in the pipeline! In addition, Marvin Chun won a Troland when he was at Vanderbilt.
