About The Class

Professor Barsky constructed this course in order to teach students about the experiences of refugees from across history.  There was a single criterion for our final project; create something that could benefit the world.  Our creations were based on our skill set and talents.  He wanted us to take our passions and develop them into a work that truly depicted our interests within the subject.  Students are currently exploring art and its ability to transcribe the stories of refugees into palpable messages, the use of engineering and how dinghies used to cross the ocean are designed for failure, and even the appropriation of the Oregon Trail as a way to force people to consider the tough decisions refugees must make.  This website was created as an aspect of a multi-layered project that hopes to discuss the humanity behind the refugee experience.
