I am generally interested in the utilization of AAV vectors to deliver therapeutic genes inside the eye. My current research focus is on neuroprotective gene therapy using erythropoietin (EPO) to prevent ganglion cell loss associated with glaucoma. I am exploring both efficacy and cellular mechanisms of neuroprotection by EPO.
Graduate Student
I am interested in the neuroprotective mechanisms of EPO-R76E in the glaucomatous retina, properties and mechanisms of EPO with multiple mutations, as well as developing nanoparticles for intraocular and systemic delivery of EPO. I am also interested in alternative music, good food, and traveling!!!!
Graduate Student
My current research interests include elucidation of the cell death pathways activated in response to ocular trauma, neurodegeneration, and neuroprotective therapies.
