Our analysis was based on a longitudinal follow-up cohort and excluded prevalent lesions to establish the temporal relationship between irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and colorectal cancer (CRC). Therefore, our implication based on the finding can be beyond the association. Two concerns were raised by the authors: small effect size and the exclusion of lesions after first year of study.
