A Rare Cause of Recurrent Hematochezia

Question: A 15-year-old female presented with recurrent pallor, fatigue, and hematochezia. The patient had no history of nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drug use, or peptic ulcer, and no family history of gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding. Notably, she denied any discomfort with massive characteristic venous malformations of the skin since infancy. These lesions, which increased in size and number over time, were deep blue, soft, rubbery, and easily compressible. Physical examination showed bluish nodules of various sizes occurred on the lower limbs, back, and buttocks (Figure A, white arrows).
