In honor of one of its past presidents, the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA) started the James W. Freston Single Topic Conference, which has been held annually since 2009. The 2015 Freston conference included state-of-the art lectures and posters on current scientific insights in irritable bowel syndrome (IBS; Supplementary Tables 1 and 2), and was organized on behalf of the American Neurogastroenterology and Motility Society and the Neurogastroenterology and Motility section of the AGA.
