Question: A 15-year-old boy with severe mental retardation associated with Dravet syndrome was referred to the emergency room for acute gastroenteritis. At that time, abdominal radiograph showed a concentration of contrast in the right lower quadrant area (Figure A, arrow). In retrospect, we could have identified the same finding on a radiographic examination performed for a bone survey 2 years earlier. The patient rapidly recovered from acute gastroenteritis, but the finding on repeat radiographic examination was the same.
