This may be the first time that the incoming president of the AGA has been introduced by a colleague who is also their spouse. I have known Sheila as her lab partner in college, husband, collaborator and still, her lab partner. We have car-pooled to work virtually every day of our professional careers, shared labs, co-supervised trainees and enjoy adjacent offices and labs. As she becomes president of the AGA at Digestive Diseases Week in May 2017, it is a special privilege for me to write this introduction about Sheila for some of you; an expression of her appreciation to many; and a love letter from me to her.
