Endoscopy in Pregnant Women with Liver Cirrhosis

We read with interest the recently published article on pregnancy outcomes in women undergoing endoscopy, and we commend Ludvigsson et al1 on the data presented. The research, although retrospective and population based, adds clarity to the current paucity of literature regarding the safety of endoscopy during pregnancy. Furthermore, we note that the impact of endoscopy on birth outcomes in those without celiac sprue, inflammatory bowel, or hepatobiliary disease was negligible (see Supplementary Table 6).
