A recent systematic review with meta-analysis by Loffredo et al1 updated our previous findings2 regarding the use of anticoagulation for the treatment of portal vein thrombosis (PVT) in patients with liver cirrhosis. However, when the original papers included in the meta-analysis were deeply analyzed, some issues needed to be clarified.
