Budesonide extended-release tablets (multimatrix [MMX]) are indicated for induction of remission of mild to moderate ulcerative colitis (UC). Budesonide MMX is a second-generation corticosteroid with low systemic bioavailability related to extensive first-pass hepatic metabolism.
