We would like to thank Drs Wood, Qi, Chen, and Mancuso for the interesting comments on our recent meta-analysis regarding the effects of anticoagulants, such as low-molecular-weight heparin or vitamin K antagonists, on portal vein thrombosis (PVT) in cirrhotic patients.1 Our results suggested that the use of anticoagulants would have a positive impact on PVT natural history, including thrombosis progression and recanalization and variceal bleeding.1
