Initially characterized 25 years ago by Stephen Attwood and Alex Straumann, eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) has garnered growing attention by gastroenterologists, pathologists, allergists, immunologists, dieticians, emergency room physicians, primary care physicians, and pediatricians.1 As a relatively new disorder, concerns regarding the appropriate management of EoE reflect the dynamic landscape of an evolving disease definition, improved disease activity assessment tools, absence of approved medications, varying perspectives of involved specialists, uncertain natural history, and rapidly expanding knowledge base.
