Ponder the Innate Immunity in Hepatitis B Infection

With great interest we have read the recent article from Aleksei Suslov et al,1 wherein the authors showed patients with chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection do not exhibit innate immune response, however this response observed upon induction of HBV-infected liver tissue by a Toll-like receptor 3 agonist and Sendai virus infection, which led to the conclusion that HBV act as a “stealth virus through their nature of invisibility to pattern recognition receptors.”
