Immunomodulator and biologic therapies are important options for individuals with moderate to severe inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). It is critical that IBD patients are aware of potential side effects of all medications. Health literacy can impact upon patients’ understanding of IBD management. This study evaluated the rate at which university gastroenterologists assess health literacy in IBD patients on immunomodulator and biologic treatment.
