We assume leadership of Gastroenterology with a blend of humility, trepidation, and excitement. There have been many eminent Editors-in-Chief of Gastroenterology, including our immediate predecessors, Richard M. Peek, Jr, MD, AGAF, and Douglas A. Corley, MD, PhD, who led the journal to its highest impact factor on record. We are humbled to take the reins from such an illustrious pair and hope we can match their innovation, enthusiasm, and rigor. Gastroenterology will continue to raise the bar as the leading journal in our specialty.
