P107 USING BIOINFORMATICS TO PRIORITIZE FOR BIOCHEMICAL AND BIOPHYSICAL ANALYSIS SNPS AND PROTEINS ASSOCIATED WITH INFLAMMATORY BOWEL DISEASE

Inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), including Crohn’s disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC), comprise a group of immune disorders of the digestive tract with significant negative impacts on quality of life. The etiologies are not well understood, but both genetic and environmental factors are involved. High-throughput sequencing methods including GWAS (Genome-Wide Association Studies) have been used to identify hundreds of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) that are more often found in IBD patients than in healthy individuals, but in most cases the link to disease is not clear.
