P066 A VIRAL TREND: HERPES ZOSTER ERUPTING AT A YOUNGER AGE IN IBD PATIENTS

There have been uptrending rates of Herpes Zoster (HZ) in the U.S. in recent years, with an estimated lifetime incidence of 1 in 3 individuals in the general population. Patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), especially those on immunosuppressant or biologic therapies, have an increased risk of developing more frequent and severe complications from HZ. Although HZ is typically observed in patients of older age, it is unclear if the prevalence among IBD patients correlates with that of the general population due to treatment with immunosuppressants and factors intrinsic to the disease itself.
