Covering the Cover

Eosinophilic esophagitis may present with symptoms such as dysphagia, chest pain, vomiting, and food impaction. Endoscopically detectable features that are associated with eosinophilic esophagitis include the presence of white exudates, strictures, rings, and linear furrows. The diagnosis is confirmed through biopsies that exhibit >15 eosinophils per high-power field (400×). The correlation of symptoms with the endoscopic and pathologic findings for eosinophilic esophagitis has remained unclear.
