We really appreciate the interest in our publication and the valid points raised by Dr Jaeschke in his letter. Importantly, our results show that the compound function of Jnk1 and Jnk2 specifically in hepatocytes is beneficial during acute liver failure (ALF). However, we are not the first to report the protective effect of compound activities of the JNK genes against liver injury. Henderson et al1 contemplated a possible redundant function of Jnk1 and Jnk2 in the context of paracetamol (APAP)-induced liver injury.
