Hematuria and Diarrhea: A Case Report

A 47-year-old woman presented with new-onset hematuria, easy bruising, and abdominal pain. For the past 10 days, she had severe, watery diarrhea and right-sided flank pain radiating to the right lower quadrant (RLQ) of her abdomen. She recently returned from a short trip to Puerto Rico, which she visits frequently. She has never had persistent diarrhea, though she has had a tendency towards “looser stools” all her life, similar to her mother. For the past week, she had been taking over-the-counter ibuprofen 4-5 times/day.
