Data on the quality of consent for colonoscopy and its effect on patient views are scant. We performed a preliminary analysis that showed substantial variability in physician consent practices. Therefore, we first sought to standardize and improve the consent process through physician education, then to compare the impact of standardized consent vs standardized consent plus an informational booklet on patient perceptions regarding colonoscopy.
